Emergency Braces Removal Near Me

Braces Removal Near Me – Brackets and Retainers

While orthodontic emergencies are rare, they can happen. Some emergencies are more severe than others and require immediate medical attention.
However, there are some things you can do at home to help reduce the chances of an emergency occurring. This can be helpful until you can schedule an appointment with us!

Brackets

Brackets are punctuation marks used to enclose or separate words, supplementary information, and quotations. They are also used in academic writing, allowing writers to add context to a quote or translate a quotation into another language without changing its meaning.
Curved brackets or parentheses, square brackets or braces, and angle brackets are all types of brackets. Each type serves different purposes.
Parenthesis are a type of bracket and are commonly used in English grammar. They are used to separate pieces of text that are not essential to the main point and can be omitted.
In computer programming, they are sometimes used as operators, to disambiguate tuple literals, and to define captures (a structure that defers contextual interpretation). They are also used to indicate arguments to function calls. They are also sometimes used in conjunction with ordinary parenthesis to mark the signature of formal parameters and other variables.

Wires

A wire runs through the brackets that attach to each tooth and the metal bands around your back teeth (molars). It’s a thin, flexible strand of wire.
Sometimes a wire can move out of its horizontal slots on the brackets, causing discomfort or irritation in your mouth. If you can push it back into place with a pencil eraser or Q-tip, this may help alleviate the pain.
Alternatively, you can cover it with relief wax. This will prevent the wire from poking and prodding the area of your mouth that’s irritated.
If the wire can’t be pushed back into position, you can also use the clean eraser end of a pencil to push it out of your cheeks or lips. This will help to relieve the discomfort, but call us as soon as possible to have it fixed so that you don’t swell up and have more trouble with your braces!

Loose Bands

The bands that surround your back teeth are a crucial part of the orthodontic process. Without them, your braces won’t put pressure on your teeth, and they will stop working on your jaw.
If one of these bands comes loose, it can cause significant problems. It’s important to have it fixed as soon as possible.
In the meantime, try to reinsert the band yourself using a pair of tweezers or needle-nose pliers. If that doesn’t work, apply a bit of wax over the area to prevent further irritation.
It’s also important to clean the band as well as your tooth. Often, the food that’s caught in between the band and your tooth can lead to decay.
In most cases, a loose bracket or band isn’t an emergency, but it’s worth calling our office for advice. If it causes significant discomfort or interferes with your ability to eat, we recommend that you bring it in for repair as soon as possible.

Retainers

Retainers are necessary to keep your teeth in their new position, which prevents them from shifting back into an unhealthy place. They are custom-made to your mouth and are essential in ensuring that you don’t lose the smile you worked so hard for after braces.
After your braces have been removed, you will need to wear a retainer at night and day for the next several months or longer depending on your original problem. This is to allow your bone and gum tissue time to adapt to the change in your tooth’s positioning.
While retainers can be difficult to adjust at first, most patients do find them comfortable after a few weeks of wearing them. You may notice that you produce a little more saliva than usual for a short period of time, but this will go away as soon as your tongue and cheeks get used to them.
